Let’s be honest, when most people hear “Slovakia,” they still confuse us with Slovenia (we love them, but come on) or they heard about Czechoslovakia (the first republic ftw). They might even think we are stuck somewhere in a post-Soviet snow globe, bordering Siberia. But those of us actually living and building here in CEE (Central Ethereum Europe) know better. Slovakia is quietly becoming a serious contributor to the global Ethereum and web3 ecosystem.

We wanted to better understand who is building Web3 in Slovakia, where they’re doing it and what drives the ecosystem forward from meetups and dev collectives to infrastructure startups and legal experts. And now, for the second time, we are putting it on the map. Literally.

Selection criteria

For this ecosystem overview, we focused on four Slovak cities where most of the Web3 action is happening either through events, development or community engagement:

To be included in this map, a project or team had to meet at least one of the following:

  1. Be founded or headquartered in Slovakia
  2. Be actively participating in the Slovak Web3 space
  3. Be created or led by Slovak builders, even if remote or global

Categories we mapped

We sorted projects into categories that reflect their core activity, tech or contribution to the space:
